The Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling nearly 60,000 Rage Wireless Guitars after finding out about the faulty circuit board intalled that may cause the batteries to leak and cause chemical burns. The guitars affected by the recall comes in either blue or white color and was sold between June and September 2008.  You can visit the PDP website for more information about the recall.

Paramount Digital Entertainment has launched the School of Rock app for the iPhone and iPod touch. The program is based on the School of Rock movie, and teaches users about the principles of music, while focusing on four main areas, divided into the School of Drums, School of Keys, School of Guitar and School of Bass. Classic rock tracks are provided to play along with, from bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Scorpions and Royal.

Users play with a selection of instruments that replicate the sounds of real ones, from the likes of Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, Peavey, Taylor, Washburn and Hohner. Music trivia questions are included to test knowledge, and any iTunes track can be used for jam play. Jam sessions can be recorded. School of Rock is available from iTunes for $7.

Watching Bill and Ted is no longer the only option to feed your air guitar hunger. Jada Toys, Inc has released a new gadget for all you air guitar junkies. It’s called the Guitar Hero Air Guitar Rocker. It’s a small belt buckle device that you wear that responds to a  magnetic pick that you wave and creates sounds from classic rock riffs. There is also a mini amplifier that you wear on your hip so you can rock it on the go.

After years of delay, Guns N’ Roses is finally releasing “Chinese Democracy.”

Geffen Records has announced that the band’s eagerly awaited album will be released Nov. 23 at Best Buy stores and the retail chain’s Web site.

“Chinese Democracy” is the first album of new Guns N’ Roses material since 1991’s “Use Your Illusion I” and “Use Your Illusion II.”

Their 14-track album includes the song “If The World,” which is part of the soundtrack to the recent film “Body of Lies.”

MyGuitarSpace.com has announced the last call for entries in the MyGuitarSpace.com Best Instrumental Contest. Entries will be accepted through the last day of October, and the winner will receive a check for $250.

Guitarists interested in entering the contest should sign up on MyGuitarSpace.com for free and enter a video clip of themselves playing any song of their choice. Voting for the contest is done by fellow members of the MyGuitarSpace.com network.

The MyGuitarSpace.com network, which is completely online, free to join and for guitarists of all levels, launched in July of 2008 and continues to attract hundreds of guitar players and guitar lovers daily.
